Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Peggy Ann McLamb Hockaday, age 81, of Hwy 96 South passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM – Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Four Oaks. Officiating will be Revs. John Norman and Jack Robbins. Burial will follow in Blackmon’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Four Oaks.
Mrs. Hockaday was born on March 3, 1942 in Johnston County, NC to the late Parson Coy and Vada Ivey McLamb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ervin Hockaday; brother, William B. McLamb. Mrs. Hockaday was the bookkeeper for Hockaday Oil Company for over 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Four Oaks. Mrs. Hockaday enjoyed all kinds of crafting especially, tin punch and enjoyed traveling to the Biltmore Estate yearly.
Surviving include her children, Shepard Hockaday and wife, Beth of Meadow, Melanie Hockaday and friend, Sydney of Apex; grandchildren, Weston Hockaday and wife, Caroline, Scott Hockaday and wife, Jami, Kristen Phillips and husband, Joshua, Adam Hockaday and wife, Madison, John Jeffress and wife, Ashley, and Justin Jeffress and wife, Erin; great-grandchildren, Jovi Jeffress, Quinn Hockaday, Amelia Hockaday, Jorah Jeffress, Jase Jeffress, and Redding Hockaday; sisters and brother, Carolyn Byrd and husband, Johnny of Four Oaks, Parson McLamb, Jr. and wife, Toni of Four Oaks, Susie Tadlock and husband, Charles of Angier; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 2, 2023 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
