Benson, NC: Mr. Raymond Sherwood Keith, Jr, age 85, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by his loving family. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM, Monday, April 3, 2023 at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC. Rev. Mark Fields will officiate.
Mr. Keith was born on June 29, 1938 in Wake County, NC to the late Raymond Sherwood Keith, Sr., and Pattie Davis Keith. Mr. Keith grew up on the family farm in Youngsville, NC, where his parents taught him the value of hard work. Working on tractors and equipment, inspired him to further his education by attending the Nashville School of Mechanics. He retired as an automotive technician after forty-six years with Sir Walter Chevrolet in Raleigh, NC. He developed a passion for music at an early age from listening to music from the Grand Ole Opry. His love for music inspired him to learn to play both the banjo and guitar. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling to new places, but had a special place for the NC Mountains. Throughout his life he remained a gentleman, humble and grateful for all the countless blessings that were bestowed upon him. Without at doubt, his most treasured blessings were the moments he spent with his beloved family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Nancy Sue Johnson Keith; children, Sharon Anderson, Diane Cole, Jeff Weaver and wife, Della, Jenny Lopp and husband, Brad, and Bucky Weaver and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Julia Lopp, John Lopp, Alexa Asher, Ethan Weaver and Emma Weaver.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service and other times at the home.
