Rebecca Jean Boykin Edwards, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born in Johnston County on September 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Ashley Boykin and Gladys Johnson Boykin.
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Thelbert Edwards; brothers, Garland Boykin and Ronald Boykin; sister, Carolyn Raper; and son-in-law, Joseph Worley.
Jean is survived by her children, Rhonda Worley, Danny Edwards and wife, Tammy, and Donna Paul and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Ashley Worley and wife, Brittany, Brandy Raney and husband, Josh, Claire Paul, and Colt Paul; great-grandchildren, Joseph Worley and Ada Raney; special niece, Erin Parrish, and her children, Spencer and Jase.
Jean was a homemaker for many years. She loved being able to take care of her home and care for many children in her family. Jean loved being able to cook many home cooked meals for her family. Her love for her family knew no bounds and each moment spent with them was a memory that she cherished forever. Jean will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
A devoted Christian, Jean’s primary goal in life was to maintain a close relationship with her Lord. She lived her faith openly and would share with others often of her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful member of Moore’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Jean loved the Lord, and that was evident with all she met.
A celebration of life for Jean will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Internment will be held at Moore’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
