Renee McLamb Overbee

Renee McLamb Overbee, 62, of Smithfield went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June
9, 2026. She was born in Johnston County on July 3, 1963 to Frances Hartley McLamb and the late, Delma V. McLamb.
She was a graduate of Princeton High School and attended Johnston Community College where she earned her EKG and Phlebotomy certificate. On April 25, 1993, Renee married Dennis James Overbee, the love of her life. She was an active member of Princeton Church and loved singing in the choir. Her love for the Lord was felt by every member of her life and anyone she met. She enjoyed going to the beach and white lake, baking, cross stitching, flowers, and drinking diet Dr Pepper. Renee loved her family, friends, pets, and especially her future granddaughter. To know Renee was to know a woman who embodied servitude and would give anything she could to help you. She was the best wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and future nae nae.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Princeton Church, 6085 US Hwy-70, Princeton, NC with the funeral to follow with Reverend Matt Cornett and Pastor Forbes Talley officiating. The committal will take place in Overbee Family Cemetery, on Baker’s Chapel Road, Smithfield, NC 27577 following the service.
In addition to her mother, Renee is survived by her husband, Dennis James Overbee; son, Patrick Overbee and fiancée, Morgan Cook; daughter, Peyton Dawson and husband, Jacob; granddaughter on the way, Parker Renee Dawson; sister, Leigh Ann Norris and husband, Jeff; niece, Sydney Norris and fiancé, Zack Ramirez.
Although flowers are welcomed, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (nationalmssociety.org) or the Wayne County Animal Shelter in Goldsboro, NC (919-731-1439).
