Robert David Crowell

Robert David Crowell, age 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025, at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. Born on September 5, 1953, in Williamsburg, Virginia, he was the son of the late Richard Crowell and Marie Thompson Thorne.

Robert never met a stranger—he knew everyone by name, and everyone was his friend. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, his family was the center of his world, and his grandchildren were his greatest joy.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sharon Crowell; son, Sean Crowell; daughter, Shannon Jones (William); grandchildren, Devon, Kameron, Aubryana, Brynlee, and Jaylin Crowell, and Summer, Sierra, and Sadie Jones; stepfather, John Thorne; and brothers, Michael Crowell and Ricky Jenner.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
