Robert Ernest Thornton

Mr. Robert Ernest Thornton, age 83, of Old Crow Road, Newton Grove, N.C. passed away at his residence on August 4, 2026 with his loving family by his side. His funeral service will be held Saturday, August 8th at 2p.m. at The Lighthouse Church, Newton Grove. The family will receive family and friends from 1 till 2 prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents: Laudis and Mary Gladys Jernigan Thornton. Left to cherish his memories are his wife: Judy Sports Thornton, stepson: Charles Brogdon, stepdaughters: Josephine Quackenbos (the late, Mark Reed), Charlene Lawhorn (Robert), Sarah Westmoreland, Crystal Brogdon (Rick Goodale), and Jessica Moyer. 19 step grandchildren (1 deceased) and 27 step great grandchildren. One sister: Francis Johnson. Also: neices, nephew and great neices and nephews, Jr., Angie, A.J., Alisson and Anna.
