Robert Moran Parker, age 90, died Sunday afternoon, July 30, 2023 in the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston. Born February 14, 1933 in Johnston County to the late Blanco Bridgers “Shorty” and Clara Fitzgerald Parker, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chappell Vail (Dick) Parker. Moran was a US Air Force veteran and a member of the Pine Level American Legion Post 405, the Pine Level VFW, and the Smithfield DAV. After leaving the Air Force, he worked for the Seaboard Coastline Railroad in Wilmington, NC. He was also a lifelong member of the Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Amateur Radio community.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2023, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Davis officiating. He will be buried on the Parker lot of the Crocker Cemetery at a later date.
Surviving are his son, Timothy M. Parker and his wife Hope of Wake Forest; daughters, Darla P. Peedin and husband Mark of Pine Level and Vicki P. Parker and husband Yates of Alexandria, VA; brothers, Benny Parker and wife Beebe and Z.B. Parker and wife Ava, and sister-in-law Molly Parker, all of Pine Level; seven grandchildren, Mitchell Peedin and wife Lexie, Daniel Peedin and fiancé Ashby, Jacob Peedin and wife Michelle, Emily Parker, Andrew Parker, Harrison Parker and wife Ashley, and Lindsay Parker and five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Smithfield Disabled American Veterans (DAV), 1500 Buffalo Rd., Smithfield, NC 27577.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the NCVA Home in Kinston for the excellent care they provided to their dad.
