Rochelle “Shellie” Dyson

On August 24th, 2026, Rochelle “Shellie” Welsh Dyson, age 58, of Benson passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer December 2025; she fought for nine months to remain with her family.

Shellie was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 7th, 1968, to the late Earl Gary Welsh and Georgia Faye Wells.

Shellie is survived by her loving husband of 31 years; Robert Dyson, two daughters; Kristina Evans (Brandon) and Cheyanna Dyson (Holden) and her 6 grandchildren; Kaydon, Noah, Wyatt, Eryn, Lettie, and Kallen.

She enjoyed various hobbies like gardening in her spare time, from planting vegetables to hydrangeas; reading books and crafting. She loved to spend time with her husband sitting on the porch and drinking coffee. Buying the grandkids holiday treats and being able to spend time with them. Spending time shopping and gossiping with “her girls.” She was a friend, a wife, a mother, a mother-in-law, and a grandma, she was loved and will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace mom.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29th, 2026, at 2:00 pm in Smithfield.
