Ennice, NC: Mr. Rodney Sutton, Jr., age 81 of Lazy Branch Road passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Revs. Dale Wallace and Brian Galyean will officiate. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.
Mr. Sutton was born April 16, 1941 in Sampson County to the late Rodney Sutton, Sr. and Ophelia Strickland Sutton. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jo Ann Lee Sutton, son, Christopher Sutton, and a brother, Horace Sutton; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Lee. Mr. Sutton retried from farming and as a correctional officer with the State of North Carolina. He was also a US Air Force Veteran.
Surviving include wife, Betty Sutton of Ennice, NC; daughter, Lea Ann Brown and husband, James of Benson; grandchildren, Brittany Sutton; and Tyler Sutton and wife, Haley; great-grandchildren, Jax Dickens, Avana Dickens, Rhett Sutton, Connor Barefoot, Rowan Sutton, and Remmy Sutton; brothers, Elbert Sutton, Tink Sutton, and Ralph Sutton all of Newton Grove; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 1:30PM-2:45PM Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home of Leanne and James Brown, 213 T-Bar Road, Benson, NC 27504.
