Roger Louis Edwards

Roger Louis Edwards

Roger Louis Edwards, 77, of Selma, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Born June 8, 1948, in Smithfield, he was the son of the late Louis and Gertrude Edwards.

Roger was a man of faith, love, and deep passion for the things he enjoyed. He chose to spend his life in the woods or on the water. Every fall, you could find him in a deer stand, and every spring meant shad fishing and turkey hunting. He especially loved sharing those moments with his children and grandchildren.

Roger graduated from North Johnston High School, where he was a member of the school’s first football team in 1965, earning a scholarship to Chowan College. Although his knees did not allow him to play, he went on to earn his degree from Chowan in 1968. Forty years later, he did not miss a moment of North Johnston’s 2005 championship football season. Above all, he loved his family and friends passionately and unconditionally, and he showed that love everyday of his life. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 2:00pm, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one-hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00pm. A private burial will follow.

Roger is survived by his children, Amber Narron and Louis Edwards (Kinga); special friend, Trudy Johnson and her family; siblings, Rose Edwards Williams (Danny), Ronald Edwards (Susan), and Donald Edwards (Ranay); and grandchildren, Maxton Narron, Porter Narron, Landon Narron, and Mattison Narron.
