Our beloved Rose Hill is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rose passed peacefully early Monday morning, February 17, 2025. Rose, the devoted wife of the late Edwin Worth Hill, was born January 2, 1938, and was the youngest child of the late Junius Verney Peterson and Alma Parnell Peterson.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents; husband Worth Hill; sisters, Doris Peterson McLamb, Jackie Peterson Minshew, and Florine Peterson East; brother Sherrill Peterson; daughter Kay Hill Fowler; grandson Channing Dale Wheeless; and great-grandson Wyatt James Humpal. Surviving are her brother Verney Peterson, Jr. and wife Lois Peterson; sister-in-law Sherry Creech Peterson; sons Ronnie Dale Wheeless and wife Christi Cook Wheeless and Michael Wheeless and wife Rena’ Wheeless; daughters Beth Hill Parker and husband Tim Parker, Gay Wheeless Worrell and husband Jimmy Worrell, and Amy Hill Shea and husband Mark Shea; son-in-law Pete Fowler; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
In the final years of her journey on this earth, Rose continued to reside in her home in Smithfield. She was in the constant company and care of her family, friend Marti Heyward and Home Instead Home Care.
Rose touched many lives in her 87 years and was truly a blessing to all she met. Everyone that knew her is surely the better for it. She will certainly be missed by many.
The family is receiving guests at Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church, 4430 Brogden Road, Smithfield NC, Friday, February 28th at 1:00pm, with memorial service following at 2:00pm and the family burial following. Flowers may be sent to Parrish Funeral Home, 1351 S Pollock St, Selma, NC 27576.
