Ruth Marie McLamb

Smithfield – Ruth Marie Thompson McLamb, age 85, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at her home. She was born in Johnston County on September 15, 1940, to the late Clarence Victor Thompson and Mildred Ruth Braswell Thompson. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Irvin McLamb; a son, Stephen McLamb; and a brother, C.V. Thompson.

The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will follow the visitation on Friday in the chapel at 7:00 PM. Burial will be held in Selma Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

She is survived by her son, Troy Joseph McLamb; sisters, Vicky Wall, Diane Quintin and husband Paul Quintin JR.; grandchildren, Shaelyn McLamb, Carlon McLamb, Taren McLamb, Christine McLamb, Brayan McLamb, Kylie McLamb and Flannery McLamb.

Ruth Marie was a religious woman who will be remembered as kind-hearted and loving. Even in her later years in life, many friends and family members would comment on how sharp her mind was. She enjoyed working with children in the day care and would often play games and bake cookies for her children and grandchildren.
