Saundra “Sandy” Cox, aged 71, passed away peacefully in her home on June 26, 2024, in Selma, North Carolina. Born on March 21, 1953, Sandy dedicated many years of service to the Johnston County Health Department, reflecting her commitment to community health and well-being.
Sandy was educated at the Johnston Community College, where she gained knowledge and skills that greatly contributed to her professional life and the health of her community.
She is survived by her loving grandchildren, Gabriella DiVico and Brian Schmidt. Sandy was preceded in death by her son, Brian Justin Cox, and her mother, Eloise Ward Garrell, whose memories remain a guiding light in her family’s life.
A graveside service will be held in Selma Memorial Gardens on July 26, 2024 at 10 AM, where family, friends, and colleagues will gather to honor Sandy’s memory and legacy. Sandy will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the profound impact she had on those around her.
