Birth Date: 12/28/1947
Deceased Date: 11/06/2022
An amazingly strong woman has graduated to heaven. Sheryl Elizabeth Wells Horger passed away peacefully on November 6, 2022, at the age of 74, at home with family by her side. She was greeted on the other side by her parents Joseph & Clara Wells, her sister Raeonna, her brother Joe, and other family members who preceded her in death.
Sheryl, along with husband James, recently had made the adventurous move from Utah to Smithfield, North Carolina to live with her son Bob’s family. She enjoyed 5 months of beautiful North Carolina weather & sunshine living with James, Bob, Heidi (daughter-in-law), and grandchildren Dallin and Savannah.
Born on December 28, 1947 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Wells and Clara Talbot, Sheryl was raised in Sunset, Utah with her brothers Joseph, Sheldon, Kay, and Dee as well as her sister Raeonna. On January 9, 1965, at the young age of 17, she married James Robert Horger of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who was stationed at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, not far from Sunset, Utah where she attended Clearfield High. They were later sealed together in the Manti Temple. Together James & Sheryl were blessed with 2 sons, James Robert (Tammy Ball), and Robert (Bob) Alan (Heidi Kammerman).
Sheryl valued her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served as Jesus Christ would, caring for others. During her career, Sheryl worked over 30 years as a Home Health Care Aide. At the end of her career, she continued serving patients even though her health was declining and she used a cane for stability. Sheryl also invited her mother-in-law, Helen Keller Horger into her home after the death of her father-in-law, Leon August Horger. Together James and Sheryl provided and cared for Helen for over 15 years.
Sheryl loved her family, especially her seven grandchildren: James, Natalie, Mitchell, Dallin, Sadie, Lindsay, and Savannah! She always enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and her brothers and many nieces and nephews!
During her lifetime, Sheryl lived in Utah, Pennsylvania, Greece, Ohio, New Jersey, and North Carolina. She enjoyed knitting afghans for her grand babies. Sheryl’s favorite things included: ice cream, black licorice, any dessert, and collecting dolls, bells, and lighthouses. Sheryl especially loved taking a bath in her walk-in bathtub, and eating out at restaurants.
Over the years Sheryl’s health declined and she wasn’t able to get around easily. She rarely complained and was always happy. She lived a long life despite many predictions of an early death. Sheryl wasn’t going to be told when her life was over, she was in charge of it and would go when she was good and ready!
Sheryl’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 10-11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel building located at 10124 South 1300 West in South Jordan, Utah. There will be no graveside service as Sheryl chose to be cremated.

My condolences. Sheryl sounds like she loved and was loved. What a spirited gal it seemed she was according to her obituary.
