Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Smitty Edward Benson, age 60, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM-Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Four Oaks, NC. Burial will follow in Burnell Baptist Church Cemetery outside Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Jessie Brock will officiate.
Smitty was born in Harnett County, NC on December 17, 1962. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edward “Tom” Benson and his father-in-law, Hersel Dunn. Smitty worked alongside his family at Canaday’s Plumbing. He was a member of Burnell Baptist Church. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, and loved every day.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Stephanie Dunn Benson; son, Hunter Benson and fiancée, Leanna; mother, Jackie Johnson Benson; sisters, Jan Benson Rhodes and husband, Jervis, Joy Benson Canaday and husband, Jonathan, and Jill Benson Norris and husband, Keven; nieces and nephews, Brittany Benson, Abby Rhodes, Nathan Canaday, Addison Canaday, Cody Norris and fiancée, Caroline; Colton Norris, Jennifer Norris, Ryan Dunn, Reilly Dunn, Hannah Register Roberts, and husband, Sauyer, and Hayden Register; mother-in-law, Peggy Dunn; sister-in-law, Patty Register and husband, Charles Wayne; brother-in-law, Ronald Dunn.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC, and other times at the home of Jackie Johnson Benson.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made in memory of Smitty, to Burnell Baptist Church Building Fund C/O Mandy Davis 643 Shade Tree Road, Benson, NC 27504.
