Stephen Harold Cooper, 85, of Smithfield, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by his family. Stephen was born in Harnett County on February 18, 1937 to the late Grady Stephen Copper and Beatrice Stancil Cooper.
In addition to his parents, Stephen is preceded in death by his wife, Janice McDaris Cooper; daughter, Tammy Cooper Pierce; and brothers, Ralph Cooper and Gary Cooper.
Stephen is survived by his sons, Dwight Stephen Cooper of Kenly and Ricky Cooper of Selma; companion, Maria Martin; grandchildren, Blake Cooper, Austin Cooper, Grant Cooper, and Allison Cooper; brothers, Jimmy Cooper of Middlesex and Roger Cooper of Kenly; sister, Shirley Johnson of Dunn, and several other family and friends.
