Coats, NC: Mrs. Sylvia Diane Hudson Moore, age 70, of Bailey Road passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at her residence with her family by her side. A Memorial Service will be held-2:00 PM Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Shane Kelly.
Mrs. Moore was born on June 27, 1954 in Harnett County to the late Pascal “Pat” and Flossie Stanley Hudson. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Moore, Sr. and her brother, Roger “Roho” Hudson.
She retired as a Dispatcher with Clayton Police Department but had a long career in emergency services, she was appointed as the first female Captain in Johnston County while serving over fifteen years with Benson Rescue Squad, she then went on to dispatch for Benson Police Department. Mrs. Moore loved the beach and even moved to Surf City and owned and operated her own grooming business before moving back to Johnston County. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.
Surviving includes her children, Jody Hudson and wife, Greta Lewis-Hudson and Amy Holmes and husband, George H. Holmes, III; grandchildren, Dillon Hudson, Courtney McDermott and husband, Joe, Hannah Holmes, Andrew Holmes, Madison Hudson, Jessica Moore, Jerry “Bubba” Moore, III, and Justina Moore; five great grandchildren; brother, Curtis Hudson and wife, Myriam; nephews, Nathan Stancil, Brian Stancil, C.J. Hudson, Brooks Hudson; and niece, Mia Hudson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
