Ted Tyrone Fairburn, 79, of Clayton, North Carolina passed away on Christmas Day 2024 after a fierce battle with cancer. He was born in Chattanooga, TN to Jacob and Margaret Fairburn. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Margie and Mary, His brother Richard and older brother, who he though the world of and admired greatly, Ronald (Ronnie) Lee Fairburn Sr.
The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Thursday January 2, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family respectfully request attendees to dress casually for the event.
Ted is survived by his brothers Gary (Sandy) and several nieces and nephews, with a special closeness with his niece Sue Fairburn Payne. Sandra and John Holloman, their son Dustin Holloman and his wife Ashley Holloman, with their two beautiful children Abigail and August Holloman. Keith and Susie West, Billy and Tammy Barefoot
Ted was a decorated Vietnam vet, serving with the Navy Seabees providing transport for the Marines via LCM-8 “Mike Boat”. After his Navy career, Ted served as a detention officer for Wake County Sheriff Department, Correction officer at Central Prison in Raleigh, and police officer for the town of Clayton and Smithfield. In between his adventurous life, he served in the National Guard where he met John Holloman. They would form a lifelong friendship. Later in life he started a successful painting business with Sandra Holloman, they painted most of the developments in the Cleveland School area in the mid 90’s to early 2000’s
Ted was a simple man who was a straight shooter, a family man, who loved getting everyone together. He loved those in his circle deeply. Don’t mistake it, Ted had a wild side in his young years. Ted’s puzzles, hobbies included fishing, golf, cooking. With as much life experiences and things he saw, he loved telling stories, but above all he loved his Abigail and August.
