Teresa Price Hargis, 77, of White Lake, NC died peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 18, following a brief illness.
Born in Selma on March 12, 1947 to John Paul Price and Marjorie Jernigan Price, Teresa graduated from Selma High School in 1965, married Lynwood Earl Hargis in 1969 and gave birth to their son Rodney in 1971.
A Selma resident for most of her life, Teresa worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses and provided tax filing and notary public services from her home in Selma for many years. She and Lynwood were active in the classic car community, where they made many friends traveling to car shows throughout the southeastern US with the 1955 and 1957 Chevrolets which she and her husband restored.
Following Lynwood’s death in 1992, Teresa worked in the bursar’s office of Wake Technical Community College until she retired and moved to Morehead City in 2011.
Known for her keen sense of humor, her love of the ocean, fishing, gardening, classic cars, NASCAR racing, and above all, her devotion to God and her family, Teresa was a kind and loving soul who was always eager to provide help and guidance to those for whom she cared.
