Thomas “Tom Boy” Edison Toole, 87, of Four Oaks, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Johnston County on February 4, 1938 to the late Jackson Raymond Toole and Martha Ada Stanley Toole. Thomas is preceded in death by his son, Randy Toole; brothers, Elijah Toole, Erwin Toole, Raymond Toole, Robert Toole, Joseph Toole and Donzie Toole; and sister, Sally Adams.
Tom Boy loved to hunt, coon hunting was his absolute favorite! He also enjoyed fishing and playing sports, baseball and basketball being his favorite. He was also very passionate about singing and spending time with his family. He was a man who had a caring and loving heart who took care of so many others. Over the years, fostered and cared for many children who grew up being loved by him and his wife, Merle.
He is survived and loved by his soul mate of 62 years, Merlene Thompson Toole, of the home; daughter, Laura Tysinger; siblings, Mavis Peoples of Four Oaks, J.R. Toole of Kenly, Leroy Toole and wife Teresa of Smithfield, Danny Toole and wife Wanda of Kenly and Dennis Toole.
He is also loved by several nieces and nephews and is the honorary Papa of Jackson and Kyndall Adams of Four Oaks, and Liliya Barbour of Benson.
His kindness and love touched many lives throughout the years, and will continue to bring warmth and happiness in the hearts of those who loved him.
Tom Boy will be greatly missed.
The family will be receiving friends at Faith Free Will Baptist Church on Monday, March 24, 2025 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM officiated by Rev. Sherwood Lassiter and Rev. Todd Creech.
He will be laid to rest in the Faith Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
