Tony McArthur Loye

Tony McArthur Loye, 83, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC following a period of declining health. Born April 27, 1942, in Reidsville, NC, he was the son of the late Coolidge Loye and Hilda Doss Loye. In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his sister, Zula Trent.
Tony grew up on a farm, where he developed valuable lifelong skills working alongside his father. He later applied this experience in his work life, serving as a machinery adjuster and retiring from The American Tobacco Company in Reidsville.
Tony enjoyed annual trips to the beach and exploring new places across the country with his family and friends. Tony deeply cherished his roles as husband, father, and grandfather, placing great importance on family and spending quality time together. He always showed kindness, offered encouragement, and spoke well of others. He took pleasure in helping family, friends, and neighbors with home improvement tasks or repairing vehicles and lawn equipment, as there was hardly anything Tony could not repair. He loved to watch NASCAR racing and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan.
He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Tony is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Bray Loye; his daughter, Tonya Loye Worley, and her husband Paul; his grandson, Adam Worley; and his brothers, Gary Loye with his wife LuAnne, Dennis Loye with his wife Arlene, and his nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Underwood Funeral Home in Smithfield on Saturday, November 8, 2025, starting at 1:00 pm. Guests are invited to visit beginning at 12:15 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to SECU Hospice House (www.johnstonhealthfoundation.org) or a charity of your choice.
