Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Tony “Tunk” Wayne Evans, age 72, of Juniper Church Road passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 3:00PM – Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the Dunn Family Cemetery, 195 Allen’s Crossroads Road, Four Oaks, NC. Officiating will be Rev. Donald Baldwin.
Mr. Evans was born on July 10, 1950 in Johnston County, NC to the late Samson Roosevelt and Lillian Ethel Lee Evans. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca Bains Evans; several brothers and sisters. Mr. Evans retired from Sprint Telephone Company as a telephone repair technician and was US Army Veteran.
Surviving include his wife of 19 years, Gail Evans of Four Oaks; children, Tonya Evans Norris and husband, Roy of Dunn; Stacy Evans and friend, Donna Johnson of Benson; grandchildren, Lauren Parker, Kendall Evans, Katie Evans; step-grandchildren, Cody Johnson, Corey Johnson, Blake Norris; sisters, Elgie Lee of Benson, Joyce Beasley Blackmon of Dunn, Faye Jernigan of Benson; several nieces and nephews; special pet, Lucky.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 1:30PM until 2:30PM prior to the service at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to The Blackmon and Evans Family Cemetery Fund, c/o Stacy Evans, 3130 Elevation Road Benson, NC 27504. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time.
