Vickie Lynn Garner

Vickie Lynn Whidby Garner, 69, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.

Born on August 14, 1956, in Fulton County, Georgia, Vickie was the daughter of the late Russell and Ruby Whidby. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth Whidby and Ronnie Whidby.

Vickie was a faithful member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church in Selma, North Carolina. She dedicated 37 years of service to the State Treasurer’s Office. She enjoyed visiting Dunkin’ Donuts, loved spending time with her beloved dog, Lulu, and cherished the simple joys of everyday life.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Selma Memorial Gardens.

Vickie is survived by her loving husband, Simon Garner; her stepdaughter, Jennifer Bocock; and her brother, Richard Whidby.

She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her faithful service, and the warmth she shared with those who knew and loved her.
