Walter Ruffin Hogg Sr.

MILLERS CREEK, N.C. – Walter Ruffin Hogg Sr., age 83, of Millers Creek, passed away on May 4, 2026, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Born on April 7, 1943, in Johnston County, North Carolina, Walter lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and devotion to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Hogg and Dorothy Overby Hogg; his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Hogg; and his brother, Linwood Hogg. Walter was the owner and operator of a wholesale ceramic tile business, where he built a reputation for reliability and a strong work ethic. He also proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard.

He is survived by his three sons: Jody Hogg (Susan) of Oak Island, Jeff Hogg (April) of North Wilkesboro, and Jason Hogg (Michelle) of Clayton. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Katelyn Hargreaves (Matthew), Haleigh Seamon (David), Brooke Woodie (Gavin), Dylan Hogg (Anikah), Hunter Hogg (Angelica), and Cooper Hogg; and three great-grandchildren, Presley-Ann Woodie, Stevie-Kate Woodie, and Amabel Seamon. He is also survived by his faithful companion, his dog, Pogo.

Walter will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and for the legacy of hard work and love he passed on to his family.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 15, at 3:00 p.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
