Princeton, NC – Walter “Red” Earl Jones, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2023 at his home surrounded by family in Princeton. Born in Johnston County on October 3, 1940, he was a son to the late Genes J. Jones and Eliza Overman Jones of Princeton.
In his free time, Earl enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a talented builder and could make just about anything. Earl took pride in taking care of his family and loved them dearly. Earl loved to entertain his friends and family.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 P.M., just prior to the service. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery in Goldsboro.
In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Eason Jones; brothers, James “Buddy” Jones; Elton “Buck” Jones; sisters, Magdalene “Mack” Hurtman; Clara Lee Holloman; Esther Ballance; Betty Hamilton; and Sally Thebarge.
He is survived by sons, Donald Earl Jones of Princeton; Ronald Earl Jones and wife Samantha Wells Jones of Princeton; daughters, Laura Juanita Hill of Princeton; Susan Jones Britt and husband James of Vandemere; brother, Roy Randall Jones of Goldsboro; sisters, Nellie Ray of Princeton; Geraldine Jones of California; grandchildren, Melissa Holland and husband Chad of Kenly; Kristen Eatmon and husband Patrick of Kenly; and great grandson, Nolan Lee Eatmon.
