Wanda Gail Woodard Stokes, 73, of Pikeville, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Wayne UNC Healthcare in Goldsboro with her family by her side. Wanda was born in Johnston County on March 22, 1948 to the late Elbert Lee Woodard and Edna Mae Daughtry Woodard.
Wanda is survived by her husband, James Alvis Stokes (Bo); sons, Shawn Millard and wife Sheree of Pikeville, Christopher Shannon Stokes and wife Rebecca of Princeton; grandchildren, McKenzie Millard, Ava Batchelor, Sutton Stokes; brother, Tony Woodard and wife Barbara of Pine Level; nephew, Tracy Woodard and wife Anna, and several other family and friends.
Wanda was a loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend. She was a selfless person who put everyone before herself. If you needed her, she would be there. She had a special relationship with God and loved all animals, including her two companions, Maggie Mae and Bojangles. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who meant the world to her. She will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations chapel with Reverend Dennis Pollock and Reverend Franklin Lane officiating. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations in Princeton. A private burial will be held in the Fellowship United Methodist Church Cemetery.
