Selma – Willa Jean McCullen Best, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, in her home surrounded by family. She was born in Harnett County on June 5, 1943, to the late Ivey and Pencie McCullen. She is preceded in death by husband, Donald C. Best, daughter, Crystal Turner DiCorte, step-daughter, Debbie Best Austin and grandson, Scotty Whaley. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed by all her loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Price Cemetery in Pine Level.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Turner Whaley (Michael) of Pine Level, stepson, Donald G. Best (Beverly) of Princeton, sister, Louie Creech, son-in-law, Johnny DiCorte; grandchildren, Kristi Wilson (Brandon), Melissa Robbins (Brian), Nick Austin (Tina), David Austin (Amber), Christopher Austin (Shawna), Justin DiCorte, Hannah Johnson (Matthew), Pam Edwards (Michael); great-grandchildren, Ian Cooke, Izzie Cooke, Brooklyn Wilson, Azlynn Robbins, Devin Austin, Riley Austin, Aden Leviner, Ava Austin, Adrianna Austin, C.J. Austin, Kylee Whaley, Olivia Whaley, Joseph Edwards, Connor Edwards, Dylan Edwards, and foster great-grandchild, Nevaeh.
