Four Oaks, NC: Mr. William Allen (Bill) Stewart, age 83, passed away on October 19th, 2024 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. Graveside Service will be 11:00AM Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Corinth Methodist Church Cemetery, Four Oaks, NC. Officiating will be Rev. Gainus Sikes. The Stewart Family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.
Mr. Stewart was born in Siler City, NC on February 6, 1941, to the late George and Anne Jones Stewart. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Mitchell Stewart. He was a faithful servant of God and loved all his family, friends and neighbors. Bill was loved by all who knew him.
Surviving include his bonus children: Jennifer Parker and husband, Neal of Jacksonville, FL, Brenda Corbett and husband, David of Four Oaks, Harold Parker and Kimberly Brown of Princeton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; cousin, Quincy Ann Inman of Greenville, SC; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill graduated from Gaston Technical Institute in 1961 with a degree in Electronics Technology and was subsequently employed by Fieldcrest Mills in Smithfield for 30 years and later by Eaton Corporation for 10 years. Bill served 6 years in the NC National Guard and 26 years as a Reserve Police Officer with the Smithfield Police Department. Bill also operated a small lawn care business for over 30 years. Bill was an avid amateur radio operator (K4JYS) since 1959 and was a collector, user and builder of vintage and antique radio equipment. Bill was a longtime member of both the Antique Wireless Association and the American Radio Relay League. Bill enjoyed music, especially playing Bluegrass music with his family. Bill also sang in the choir at Corinth Methodist Church for many years.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at SECU Hospice House for the loving care they have given to Bill.
