William James Avent III

William James Avent, III, was born on October 22, 1948, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to William James Avent, Jr. and Louise Clack Avent. Bill passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, with his beloved wife by his side.

Bill built a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. He enjoyed a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry with GlaxoSmithKline, where he worked for many years. Outside of work, Bill found joy in playing the drums with his garage band, tinkering on his boat, and spending quiet evenings on his front porch, watching the water and taking in the beauty of the sunset.

Bill will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, unwavering honesty, genuine kindness, and deep love for his family. His warm spirit and steady presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joni Hiatt Avent; his daughter, Stephanie Louise Avent; his brother, Randy Avent; and his sisters, Nancy Gary and Jean Avent.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at Parrish Funeral Home. Flowers are appreciated. Online condolences can be made at www.parrishfh.com.
