Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Rufus William Sanders, Jr., age 78, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. Memorial Services will be held at 6:00PM, Monday July 25, 2022 at Antioch United Methodist Church near Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Walter Gaskins will officiate. A Private Burial will follow at a later date.
Mr. Sanders was born on April 7, 1944 in Johnston County, NC to the late Rufus Sanders, Sr., and Vidah Wood Sanders. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William “Billy Wood” Sanders. Rufus was a farmer, and for many years, managed what is now Nutrien Ag Solutions of Four Oaks, NC. He was a member of the Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Department. Mr. Sanders also served in the US Army National Guard, and was a member of the Four Oaks American Legion Post 346. He was a life-long member of Antioch United Methodist Church, Four Oaks, NC.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda Baker Sanders; sisters, Laura Beth Barbour and husband, Joe Mack, and Ann Durham; many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the fellowship hall of Antioch United Methodist Church 5289 US HWY 701 S. Four Oaks, NC 27524.
