Benson, NC: Mr. Willis Chester “WC” Lee, Jr., age 90, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Lee’s Chapel Advent Christian Church 4154 NC HWY 96 South, Four Oaks, NC 27524. Rev. Rodney Raby will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Firemen’s Honors.

A native of Benson, NC and local historian, Mr. Lee was born on August 20, 1934 in Johnston County, NC, to the late Willis Chester Lee, Sr., and Sarah Myrth Matthews Lee. A 1952 graduate of Benson High School, he began his working career as a farmer, owning and operating Town and Country General Merchandise in Benson, NC. Mr. Lee also worked with Johnson and Johnson/Chicopee in Benson, NC retiring with 25 years of service. He volunteered with the Benson Fire Department, serving in many capacities and as Chief from 1981 -1983. Mr. Lee was a loyal and dedicated member of Lee’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, where he served however he could. He loved Benson, NC, and the surrounding communities and wanted to make sure that we remembered our heritage, and wanted that heritage, to be preserved for generations to come. His wisdom and knowledge will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley L. Lee; many special caregivers and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00PM-7:00PM Monday, December 30, 2024 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC and other times at the home.
