Selma – Agnes Lenore Barnes Abbott, age 80, died Thursday, January 18, 2018 at her home. Born June 1, 1937 in Wilson County she was a daughter of the late W. Joe and Peora Lamm Barnes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Maine Abbott; son, Larry Neal Bedford; stepson, Chester Maine “Junior” Abbott, Jr.; brothers, Otis Barnes, J.E. Barnes, Raymond Barnes, and Roland Barnes; sisters, Alma Scott, Doris Evans, and Sallie Thorne. Agnes was a member of Old Beulah Primitive Baptist Church in Kenly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Elder Garlon Vick officiating. Burial will follow in Old Beulah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home just prior to the service.
Surviving are her sons, John Bedford and wife Connie of Selma and Rickie Bedford and wife Lora of Smithfield; stepdaughter, Norma Abbott and husband James Jernigan of Pittsboro; brother, Randolph Barnes and wife Audrey of Kenly; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
