Winston Salem, NC: Mrs. Alease Turlington Barbee, age 103, died Thursday at Trinity Place in Albermarle. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats. Burial will follow in Coats City Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Newkirk will officate.
Mrs. Barbee was born June 8, 1914 in Harnett County to the late H.A. Turlington, Sr. and Laylon Parrish Turlington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Barbee; daughters, Sandra Whiteheart and Betty Artman; sister, Mable Hayes; brothers, Wade Turlington and H. A. Turlington, Jr. Mrs. Barbee was a graduate of Coats High School and Rex Nursing School. She was a retired registered nurse and member of Ardmore United Methodist Church in Winston Salem.
Surviving include daughter & son-in-law, Pat and George Winecoff of Locust, NC; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; sisters, Joyce Ogburn of Lillington; Bobbie Adams of Raleigh and Susie Mewborn of Coats; many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly and Uwharrie, 960 North 1st. Street, Albermarle, NC 28001.
