Alice Faye Thornton Pope, age 79, of Pine Level, passed away at the SECU Hospice House on Thursday, April 25, 2019. Born in Sampson County on March 27, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Ivey and Annie Belle Jackson Thornton. Faye was preceded in death by her husband Linwood in 2007. She was an active member of Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church where she has served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member and church greeter. She was a member of the Pine Level Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and provided care and assistance to the elderly in her community. Faye’s greatest love was that for her family.
The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 to 8 pm and at other time at the home of Jerry and Wanda Allen. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM at Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church followed by burial in the Price Cemetery.
Surviving are her son, Charles Pope and wife Alicia of Pine Level; her daughter, Wanda Allen and husband Jerry of Smithfield; brothers Bill Thornton of Smithfield, Jerry Thornton of Florida, Bryan Thornton of Raleigh and Glenn Thornton of Cary; sisters Edith Britt of LaGrange, Lottie Corbett of Newton Grove and Ida Mozingo of Smithfield; grandchildren Taylor Bailey, Tyler Pope and Zachary Allen; and her sister-in-law Joyce Pope of Pine Level.
The family asks that you please keep them in your prayers as the best mama, grandma, sister, aunt, wife and friend ever has gained her wings. While their hearts are broken, they are celebrating her joyous arrival in Heaven.
