Princeton – Alton Ray Gower Sr., age 87, passed away Friday February 12, 2021 at his home in Princeton. He was born in Johnston County on March 18, 1933 to the late Lawrence Alton and Lavina Elizabeth Gower. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gower is also preceded in death by brothers, Wilton Gower, Elbert Gower and Gordon Gower.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday February 15, 2021 at 11 AM at Rains Crossroads FWB Church/cemetery.
He is survived by loving wife, Margarette Edwards Gower of the home; sons, Alton Ray Gower Jr. and wife Kathy of Dunn, Ronald Owen Gower and wife Donna of Gastonia; brother, Jimmy Gower; sisters, Grace Daughtry, Linda Dixon, Kathy Stewart, Diane Creech; granddaughters, Hope Tyndall (Brandon), Morgan Weber (Chip), Georganna Gaines (Calvin), Haley Vradenburgh (Ryan), and Paige Gower; great grandsons, Gavin and Asher Tyndall, Knox and Cade Weber, and Will and Connor Vradenburgh
Mr. Gower was a United States Army Veteran as well as a member at Rains Crossroads Original Free Will Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice Care, Senior Helpers, and Affinity Health. A special thank you to Chrystal Whitman for the compassion and care she gave to our loved one.
