Benson, NC: Mrs. Annie “Polly” Smith Parrish, age 83, of 7524 Benson-Hardee Road died Wednesday at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benson. Funeral Service will be Friday 2:00 PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Phil Bowden. Burial will follow in Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Angier, NC.
Mrs. Parrish was born December 24, 1933 in Johnston County to the late George David and Symantha Lucille Mason Smith. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Norma Lee Parrish; brothers, John Smith and Howard Smith. Mrs. Parrish worked 22 years as a bookkeeper for Young’s Auto Salvage and as a secretary for Coats High School. She was also president of West Johnson Fire Department’s Women’s Auxiliary.
Surviving are husband of 64 years, Leron A. Parrish; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Bennie Pender of Benson, Delores Parrish of Apex and Julie and Patrick Burgess of Benson; grandchildren and spouse, Samantha Thornton and Kimberly and Chris Smith; great grandchildren, Dominique Judkins, Shaunta Williams, Emauri Thornton, Emily Dominquez and Devin Smith; sister, Marie Pope of Gretna,VA; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
