Smithfield: Barbara Jean Young Jones, 63, passed away peacefully Friday morning at home surrounded by her loving husband.
Barbara was born in Harnett County on July 3, 1954 to the late James and Carrie Potter Young. She was a member of West Calvary Church in Smithfield. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Family was very important to Barbara and she worked very hard to look after and care for each one of them. Barbara enjoyed time out on the pier casting her rod, it didn’t matter if the fish were biting what was important was the time she spent making memories with her husband and granddaughter.
A celebration of her life will be held on her birthday, July 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service with the Rev. Ricky Ham officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of forty nine years, Johnny Mack Jones; granddaughter, Josie Guin of Four Oaks; brothers, Joe Young of Las Vegas, and Jerry Moore of Clayton; and her sister, Patricia Hamilton of Angier.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Jones; brother, Nolan Young; sister Betty Sandy, and her special K-9 companion Rocky.
