Selma- Basilia Cruz, age 76, died Thursday evening, September 21, 2017 in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Born May 20, 1941 in Utuado, Puerto Rico she was a daughter of the late Juan and Juana Medina Cruz. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dominic Medina and Ramón Ortiz; and sisters, Felicita Ortiz and Teresa Ortiz.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 in St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Peter Grace officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Sunday at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
Surviving are her sons, Melvin Torres, Elvin Torres, Rene Torres, David Torres, Baltazar Gonzalez, and Angel Gonzalez; daughters, Wanda Gonzalez, Shelin Torres, Jenny Torres, and Carmen Cartagena; sister, Georgina Cruz; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren.
