Smithfield – Betty Catherine Coats Lee, age 98, died Saturday evening, November 3, 2018 in SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born June 27, 1920 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late Ed and Catherine Godwin Coats. She was preceded in death by both her husbands, Earl Wilson Keen and Lawrence Lee; son, Nelson Earl Keen; granddaughter, Christy Keen; sisters, Mozelle Ellis and Irene Whitley; and brother, Thurman Coats. Betty was a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Keen and Rev. Danny Keen officiating. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
Surviving are her sons, Rev. Danny Keen and wife Jane of Anderson, SC and Rev. Dennis Keen and wife Carol of Clayton; daughter-in-law, Ann Keen of Smithfield; grandchildren, Chris Keen and wife Sherri, Laurie Frost, John Keen and wife Lisa, Jeff Keen and wife Crystal, Jana Shaffer and husband Brian, and Jennifer Piscatella and husband John; great grandchildren, Richard Frost, Jr., Benjamin Frost, Mia Brothers, Lauren Keen, Cadence Keen, Zachary Piscatella, Kati Keen, Mollie Keen, and Morgan Shaffer; and great great grandchildren, Oliver Frost, Drake Brothers, and Paisley Brothers.
