Bobby Emmett Cox, age 66, of Selma, passed away on October 18, 2020. Born in El Dorado, Kansas on April 13, 1954, he was the son of the late Jesse William and Doris Ramona Dennett Cox.
Mr. Cox was a retired school teacher, having taught at Northern High School in Durham for a year and 35 years in various positions within the Johnston County School System. He loved theatre, having directed many plays including one at the Neuse Little Theatre. He was a member of Smithfield First Presbyterian Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 22, at 11 am in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. The family would appreciate that those in attendance wear face coverings and practice social distancing. The service will also be streamed live on the Parrish Funeral Home Facebook page. A committal service will be held on Friday at 3 pm in Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
Surviving are his wife, Cathy Davis Cox; his son, Christopher H. Cox; his step-daughters, Sarah Vaughan and husband Robert of High Point, Kaitlin Warren and husband Dallas of Winnabow; grandchildren, Krislyn Vaughan, Temperance Vaughan, Alan Vaughan and Stella Claire Warren; sisters Diana Klontz and Paul of Artesia, New Mexico, Anita Markman and Bob of New Bern, Billie Jo Kirschner and Buddy of New Bern; and numerous nieces and nephews.
