Coats, NC: Mrs. Carol Pope McGee, age 78, of 353 Willis Pope Road passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at her residence. A Graveside Entombment Service will be held 12:00 PM. Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
Mrs. McGee was born on October 31, 1941 in Harnett County to the late Willis G. and Nola Dorman Pope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Alton Derle McGee, grandson, Jeramy Edward Holmes, sisters, Margeline Myatt and Willa Dean Powell and a brother, Gail Pope. Mrs. McGee retired from the Fire and Law Enforcement Retirement Division with the North Carolina State Treasurer’s Office. She was a member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Robert Derle McGee, Roger Lane McGee and wife, Christa; Angela McGee-Platt and husband, Skip; and Ellen Elaine McGee; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; sister, Eloise Pope of Coats; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the home place and following the graveside service at the cemetery on Tuesday.
Due to the current health concerns the family understands if you are not able to join them for the graveside service. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
