Smithfield – Charles Douglas Braswell, age 75, died Wednesday evening at his home. Born July 13, 1943 in New Hanover County to the late Doctor Robert and Inez Pittman Braswell, he was preceded in death by a sister. Linda Wooten and brothers, James W. Braswell and Robert Carlton Braswell. Charles was retired from Eaton Corporation and was a member of Tee’s Chapel Church. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the Pine Level VFW and American Legion posts.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Tee’s Chapel Church Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Betty Talton Braswell, daughters, Angela Braswell of Pine Level and Jaclyn Dawes and husband Todd of Princeton; sister, LaRue Thornton and husband George of Wendell and three grandchildren, Shelby Thompson, Matthew Thompson and Caleb Dawes.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Pine Level VFW, P. O. Box 429, Pine Level, NC 27568.
