Charles Ransom Wall

    Smithfield – Mr. Charles R. Wall Sr. went to be with our lord and savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 3rd 2020, after a period of declining health. He was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Lizzie Wall Sr. Mr. Wall leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Patricia N. Wall; Son, Chuck Wall and wife Susan of Clayton; Daughter, Karen Beasley and husband Johnny of Benson; Several great grandchildren and one on the way in December; Many nieces and nephews. He was born on August 13, 1930 in Clayton. Mr. Wall worked locally in a shoe store, operated a printing press, and the local drug store before joining the United States Air Force at the age of 19, and serving in the Korean War in Japan. After serving his country, he met Patricia Nichols and they married in 1959. Working at the county garage in Smithfield, Charles performed a variety of tasks, including installing lightning rods in water towers. He was also an electrician and carried mail for over 20 years. Mr. Wall was a true gentleman and a man of God, always teaching his children about the Lord and attending church regularly, being a deacon and treasurer. He also stayed busy doing woodworking and helping other at every opportunity. His great love for Jesus Christ and all family members was beautiful and unmatched. Charles volunteered at Johnston Memorial Hospital for over 20 years and participated in Relay 4 Life.
