Clara Bell Johnson McCown, age 95, of Smithfield, passed away on April 13, 2018. Born in Johnston County on February 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Imma Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Marion Ralph McCown; and her sons Clifton Ray “Moussy” McCown and James Robert “McGoo” McCown.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 2:00 PM in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens near Smithfield. The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma from 6 to 8 PM Monday.
Surviving are her grandchildren, Timmy Bentley, Tammy Newman and Kelly McCown; her best friend and caretaker Betty Broughton; nephews, Charles, Jimmy, Bruce, Ray and Don Johnson; and nieces Cynthia, Debbie, Joyce, Wilma and Margie.
