Benson, NC: Mrs. Clara Lee Blackmon, age 84, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Laurels of Forest Glenn in Garner. Graveside Service will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the Johnson Family Cemetery on Holly Grove Road, outside Benson. Revs. Corky Herring and Doug Abel will officiate.
Mrs. Blackmon was born on June 20, 1936 in Johnston County to the late Erastus and Bevie Dunn Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Layton Blackmon and brothers, Larry Lee and Sherwood Lee. Mrs. Blackmon worked at Fieldcrest, was a homemaker, and helped Ronnie Parker with his produce farming. For many years she kept children in her home. She was a member of Lee’s Union Advent Christian Church, Four Oaks, NC.
Surviving include her children, Gary L. Blackmon and wife, Linda of Smithfield; Diane B. Godwin and husband, Philip of Newton Grove; grandchildren, Gary Shane Blackmon, Traci B. Boyette and husband, Andrew, Tori Parrish and Chris, Amber Griffin and husband, John, Ashley Deans, Kirk Godwin and Tabby, and Carson Godwin; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Johnson, Anthony Parrish, Kendra Parrish, Madison Rhodes, Jaxson Jones, Logan Godwin and Ace Godwin; brothers, Stacy Lee, Matt O’Brien and John Otte all of Clayton; several brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Mrs Blackmon will be available for viewing and you may sign the register book from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks on Monday, July 6, 2020. The family will not be present at this time. They are gathering at the home of Diane and Philip Godwin, 2116 Rosin Hill Road, Newton Grove, NC 28336.
