Birth Date: 02/12/1956
Deceased Date: 02/24/2021
Clay C. Lashley, 65, departed this earthly life bound for his heavenly home on February 24, 2021. Clay was born February 12, 1956 in Raleigh, NC and spent most of his life in the Wake County/Johnston County area. He was a building renovation & repair expert – a true craftsman, perhaps a perfectionist. He loved repairing and restoring homes and often worked in the Historic Oakwood district of Raleigh. Clay was a history and genealogy aficionado. He loved reading books on American history, wars and ancient history. While he was not a member of any specific church, you would often find him reading the Bible and researching the history of Christianity. Clay was also very knowledgeable on government and politics and could debate the best on most political issues both past and present. He loved spending time outdoors. If he didn’t answer his cell phone, it’s probably because he was scouring the woods for arrowheads, exploring an old cemetery, walking a battlefield site or checking out a good fishing spot.
He is survived by his sister Melanie Lashley Dino (Richard) of New Bern, NC; nieces Nathalie Seferovic of Wake Forest, NC and Adriana Dino Dunn (William) of Tennessee; nephew Colin Dino of Virginia; and aunts Dixie Cassell and Suzanne Eubanks of Abilene, TX. He was predeceased by his father, Joe Clegg Lashley; his mother, Joan Cassell Lashley; and his sister, Locksley A. Lashley.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at SECU Hospice Center in Smithfield, NC for taking such good care of Clay in his final days. We would also like to thank his dear friends for being so vigilant in their endless support for Clay during this battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Clay will be buried at Pleasant Hill Christian Church Cemetery in Liberty, NC.
