Benson, NC: Dakota Raeann Strickland, age 22, of Benson passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019. Funeral Service will be held 3:00PM, Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Freddy Wayne Langston. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.
Dakota was born on August 10, 1996 in Wake County. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Hazel Strickland. She was a South Johnston High School Class of 2014 graduate. Dakota’s fun loving sense of humor and a smile that would brighten any room will be missed deeply by her family and friends.
Surviving are her mother, Danette Jernigan of Benson; her father, Fred Wayne Strickland, Jr. of Coats; maternal grandparents, Donald and Pat Jernigan of Benson; maternal great-grandmother, Lorean McLamb of Benson; paternal grandfather, Fred Wayne Strickland, Sr. of Dunn; aunts and uncles, Denise and Michael Medlin of Benson, Pam and Danny Stanley of Coats; several beloved cousins.
The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:45PM, Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson prior to the service and other times at the home of Danette Jernigan 1006 East Main Street Benson, NC 27504.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Durham Rescue Mission P.O. Box 11368 Durham, NC 27703.
