Selma – Offie Daniel “Danny” Hicks, age 69, died Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Born December 15, 1949 in Wilson County he was a son of the late Offie Hester and Mattie Mae Barham Hicks. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Danny was a very active member in his church, Carter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, and in his community. He was a former member of Micro Fire Department, Cub Scout leader, and coached Little League in Micro for 11 years. Danny retired from Firestone Tires after 36 years of service.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Carter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
Surviving are his wife, Vickie Hicks of the home; sons, Daniel Matthew Hicks, Sr. and wife Crystal of Crestview, FL and Dwight Lee Hicks and wife Wanda of Clarksville, TN; sisters, Shirley Byrd and husband David of Four Oaks, NC and Brenda Benson of Micro, NC; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
