Danny Roland Stewart, 67, passed away peacefully September 15th after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Serving in the NC Army National Guard, he was a graduate of Princeton High School and Wayne Community College. Danny worked many years for Pepsi in Selma and Raleigh. He later worked for Goldsboro Milling until his retirement in 2017. He enjoyed horses, fishing and old Westerns. But his real passion was Princeton High School sports and following his boys as they competed in football, baseball and wrestling. He coached Princeton Little League baseball and was a member of the Princeton High School Booster Club for several years.
Danny loved children and enjoyed the days he volunteered to drive the Playmates Child Care van for field trips. He helped the children pick pumpkins in the Fall and strawberries in the Spring. He always had as much fun as the children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Hattie Stewart; sister, Wilma Barbour; and his oldest son, Matthew “Big Country” Stewart.
Left to cherish the memories of this humble, soft spoken, southern gentleman are his wife of 33 years, Julie Stewart; sons, Forrest Stewart and Daniel Stewart; brother, Jimmy Stewart; sisters, Linda Strader and Bobbie Rowe; grandchildren, Clayton Stewart and Maddie Stewart; two nieces; and three nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Mr. Michael Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
