SELMA – Darrick Eugene Brown, age 65, died Tuesday in the Brian Center of Clayton. Born November 17, 1951 in Johnston County, he was a son of the late Jim and Hattie Mae Brown. He was a graduate of Richard B. Harrison High School in Selma in 1970. Darrick entered the US Army in 1973 and served as an Automated Logistics Specialist and a Legal Specialist stationed in different parts of the United States and Vietnam. Mr. Brown retired as a Sergeant with the US Army on March 1, 1994, after more than 20 years active duty service.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home, with Pastor Jason Blake officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Dobbin Brown; sons, John Blake of Richmond, VA and Darrick Brown of Los Angeles, CA and Dana Brown of Troy, NY; daughters, Pamela Stevens of Selma, Angela Blake of Princeton and Tychinna Pratt and husband Wayne of Baltimore, MD and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Thursday just prior to the funeral service.
